Hello, I teach Pilates at Studio 21 as well as managing the day to day running of the business, I launched the studio over 7 years ago! If you’re interested, read on and I’ll tell you a bit about me and how it all started…..


I trained in London with Body Control Pilates in 2008 and knew straight away that I’d like my own studio. I was working full time for the North York Moors National Park in education and outreach, and as my fixed term contract was coming to an end I decided to take the plunge into self-employment. I finished full-time work in the April and opened the studio in September, it was the best decision I ever made, it’s been challenging at times but I’ve always felt lucky to be here, and to share my love of Pilates and staying active with everyone.


Growing up I loved sport, especially netball, I still play for Grangetown Netball Club, I joined when I was 13 and we currently play against the top 20 clubs in the country in the National Clubs League. It’s an understatement to say how much Pilates, Yoga and my knowledge of the body has allowed me to have such a long playing career.


My typical week of training is: x3 Olympic weights sessions, x1 netball specific strength & conditioning session, x1 netball training session, x1-2 netball matches. It’s full on but I love it. I fit in Pilates, Yoga, stretching and foam rolling most days in short bursts, I get to classes when I can but I’d like to do more, maybe that will be my New Year’s Resolution! Which is ironic for a Pilates teacher!


My interest in sport has led me to work with many amateur and professional athletes, for the past 4 years I’ve taught 4 sessions a week at Middlesbrough Football Club, they have a good set up at the training ground and they are really onboard with using Pilates and Yoga as a tool for keeping players supple and fit and to help with rehab.


For me, Pilates and Yoga is the relationship built between the body and the mind, it’s moving with an awareness of your body, your breath, how it feels physically and mentally. I believe in teaching natural, functional movement, and in helping people to regain this where it’s been lost and to show people how to maintain it when they have it.


You’ll find me teaching 121’s and classes at the studio on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, and I’m only ever a phone call or email away if you need help with booking or have any queries.
