Aerial Pilates and Yoga classes are a brilliant way to get fit, have fun and gain a new perspective on movement by taking a class in the air. Each session will take you through a series of exercises using a suspended sling (hammock) to support and challenge the body. You’ll start by practising on the floor with the assistance of the hammock, gradually progressing to exercises that require full body suspension.
We run monthly workshops at the Saltburn Studio, including a 90 minute Aerial Class, with a maximum of 6 participants sharing 3 hammocks, and a 1-hour 3:1 Shared Private in your own hammock, it’s more like a one to one than a class.

Moving against gravity is challenging and will make your body work in different ways requiring concentration and balance
3. FULL BODY WORKOUT
This is true of regular Pilates and Yoga but more so in the hammock, your entire body must be engaged in the process of moving, stretching and supporting your weight
You’ll develop strength without even trying to; continued practice over time will result in increased upper body and core strength
As in, conquering it! Starting with the basics, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. Don’t let yourself be intimidated, trust yourself and your instructor and experience the boost you get from pushing yourself out of your comfort zone
6. BACK BENEFITS
Everyday we walk around with gravity pushing down on us, so experiencing the opposite, by hanging upside-down, can take the pressure off your spine and allow it to de-compress. (This won’t be suitable for everyone or may be something you need to build up to)
You might forget your exercising while letting your inner child out to swing like you did back in the playground!
8. BODY AWARENESS
You’ll increase your spacial and body awareness by exposing yourself to new perspectives within a 3-D space
